In the present study, we report the case of a patient with diabetes mellitus whose glycemic control was disrupted during hospitalization after a nicotine replacement therapy. Dosage adjustments along with a long-acting insulin treatment were used in order to obtain a new glycemic control. A possible explanation is that this metabolic disturbance was provoked by an overestimation of the patient's actual nicotine consumption at the onset of the nicotine withdrawal program.
